Meghan became the first non-married partner invited to Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen last year. This year, she arrived as both an HRH, a duchess, and a pregnant woman!

For decades, the royal family has made a habit of visiting St Mary Magdalene, a 16th-century church on their Sandringham property, on Christmas day.

Below, a video of Meghan and Harry alongside Kate and William walking to the church.

Ahead of them was Prince Charles, while a few meters behind were Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooks bank, and towards the back of the group were the Earl and Countess of Wessex with their children, Lady Louise Windsor and Viscount Severn, the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and Zara and Mike Tindall.

The Queen arrived in her state limousine with the Duke of York.

Unfortunately, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cornwall did not join the rest of the royal family as they made the short walk. It is understood the duke is in good health and will spend the day relaxing privately with his family. Camilla missed an appearance at the Olympia Horse Show last week due to a heavy cold and is believed to be still recovering from the bug.

Sandringham House is a private residence on an 8,000 hectare-estate owned by the royal family. The royal family acquired the estate in 1862 as a secondary home for the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII, and to this day, it remains the property of the royal family – not the Crown.

Sandringham House was passed down through generations until becoming The Queen’s property in 1952, when she promptly passed the responsibility of maintaining Sandringham to her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Aside from a few years in the 1960s when the royal family spent the holidays at Windsor Castle, they always stay at Sandringham House for Christmas and New Year’s.

And a video of the whole royal family departing – including Meghan’s curtsy.

Afterward, Meghan alongside Harry, William, and Kate went on a brief walkabout. While greeting the crown, Meghan saw a 17-year-old girl holding up a small sign with her Instagram username on it, Jessica Scarlett. Meghan instantly recognized her and gave her social media friend a hug.

After the meeting, Jessica described the experience as ‘amazing’ adding: ‘I started watching Suits, then I started following her on social media and then followed her acting and followed her humanitarian work, so I’ve been a fan of her for years. There was a group of us, girls, on social media she became kind of close with and interacted a lot online.’

Talking about Meghan she said: ‘This is the first time I’ve met her, she just said ‘it’s so lovely to meet you, incredible to finally see you’ and she was asking how we all are and if we’re still talking and supporting each other.’

Both Meghan and Kate were given armfuls of bouquets by the well-wishers. Meghan was also asked about Baby Sussex and she replied: “We’re nearly there.”
