Meghan once again looked blooming gorgeous in an Erdem dress as she headed to Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s annual pre-Christmas lunch.
The Queen’s Pre-Christmas Luncheon is a private event, which means that the only photographs we will see are those taken of the royal family arriving and departing Buckingham Palace. It is hosted by the Queen every year before Christmas and includes her extended family and royal relatives. That means it’s not just her children and grandchildren attending; there are cousins and their spouses in the mix, too. The festive gathering allows the royal clan to celebrate the holiday together, especially since they won’t all spend Christmas at Her Majesty’s country home, Sandringham Estate.
Ahead of the luncheon, a traditional garland was strung over the Grand Staircase.
Meghan attended the luncheon for the first time last year, as Harry’s newly announced fiancée. It was thought to be her first time meeting the full, extended royal family.
Today is Meghan’s second event of the week. Yesterday, she went to the Royal Variety Charity’s residential nursing home, Brinsworth House. During the visit, she showed off her calligraphy skills, writing “Merry Christmas, Love Meghan” on one of the decorations she helped them make.
Buckingham Palace shared their Christmas Decoration in a video posted by the royal family on social media. The 15-foot-tall trees are grown in Windsor and delivered to Buckingham Palace at the start of December each year. They’re then decked out with hundreds of twinkly lights and regal decorations including mini velvet crowns and embroidered state carriages. While the trees aren’t erected by the royal family themselves, tradition dictates that they will add the final decorations.
For tonight’s luncheon, Meghan decided to re-wear an Erdem dress that she wore for a 2016 appearance on The Today Show.
Meghan also re-wore her Cartier Galanterie stud earrings from her wedding day.
We will see Meghan and Harry again on Christmas morning for a service at Sandringham!
