Q&A May 2021

Hey there, friends! Last week, I did a little Q&A on stories. I love how engaged you were, and I received more than 150 questions. Obviously, I can’t answer them all, but I chose some interesting questions to answer. You can read my answers below:

Me:

Q: How old are you?

I’m 28 – turning 29 6th of August.

Q: Where are you from?

I’m a Palestinian girl – born and raised in Denmark. My parents grew up in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. They escaped to Denmark during the Lebanese civil war back in the eighties.

Q: How tall are you?

I’m 166 cm.

Q: When will you be moving to Dubai?

Because of the hot weather in Dubai at the moment, we’re trying to postpone it as much as possible. We have sold our house here in Denmark and live in a temporary rent apartment (Much smaller than I’m used to). Diana will be starting school in Dubai in September, so definitely before that!

Q: How did you meet your husband?

Funny story: My husband and I have known each other our whole lives. His uncle, a good friend of my father, was our neighbor, so we used to meet when his family visited them. According to our families, we couldn’t stand each other and used to fight all the time.

When I was around seven years old, his uncle moved, so their visits stopped, and I remember being so happy that I wouldn’t have to see him ever again. Years went by, and I forgot him entirely. When I was 17, I got this friend request on Facebook from a guy asking me if I remembered him. And after several messages, I finally remembered who he was and was surprised to see the handsome man he had become.

One year after his message, we got engaged. One year after our engagement, we got married, and three years into our marriage, we welcomed our baby Diana. We’re currently on our 10th year as a married couple and still going strong.

He is, without any doubt, my soulmate. I can’t even imagine my life without him, and he’s been by my side no matter what I’ve been dealing with through the years.

Q: Do you think Diana will adapt to the hustle and bustle of a city like Dubai?

Definitely!!! I’m honestly really excited about the life she’ll live there. We are looking for a place near a park or a common for her to romp around with new friends. We are also looking for a big home with a backyard and a pool, where she will have the space she needs and fully enjoy the weather. As you know, we traveled to Dubai last month to show her the city and the area that we will be living in, and she LOVED it!

Q: Can’t wait to follow your life in Dubai – will you make a blog about your life there?

Of course! But I’ll need some time to actually explore it first! 🙂

Q: What are your thoughts about the Oprah Interview?

I’ll admit I doubted it was a good idea when I first heard about the interview! And yes, the interview left me shocked, sad, surprised, and hurt for Meghan and Harry, but on the other hand, it answered many questions. Oprah, in my opinion, did an excellent job of interviewing, and I felt Harry and Meghan were upfront in their statements.

The way Meghan described how debilitating it was for her to lose her voice made me sad. I think everyone knows how it is to be mistreated. When people believe lies about you, and the liars are allowed free reign to carry on with it, and you are not allowed to defend yourself with the truth, something crumbles in you and begins to die.

I will not get into the details – it’s been two months now and bringing it up again is unnecessary.

But one thing is sure; the world got to see the royal family in a different light. For the royals, on the other hand, this marriage was a massive, missed opportunity. They could have used the Sussexes to show their progressiveness and as a way of building bridges throughout the world. Instead, they stood by and allowed them to be mercilessly attacked by the tabloids until they couldn’t take it anymore.

Our time on this planet is short. It shouldn’t be wasted doing things we don’t want to do or doing things we want to do in a toxic environment of emotional vampires that drain the life and love from you. I believe their decision to step back was the best decision they ever made, and I’m so happy to see them thrive.

Q: When did you start following Meghan?:

It was my husband who “introduced” me to Meghan. He has been a huge Suits fan for years, and before she got engaged, he tried to get me to watch the series without luck.

I’ve always been a big fan of the British monarchy, on the other hand. Especially Diana and Harry (I named my daughter after Princess Diana)

When they announced their engagement, I remember sending a screenshot to my husband saying, “Your suit star will be a princess soon.” And he replied the cry-laughing emoji. Since then, I started following her intensely. My wish to create an Instagram page about her came after their wedding, but it took me some time to make a move. I knew it would take A LOT of time and effort to cover them, and I wasn’t sure I would have the time with both my daughter and work. As I said before, my husband has been my biggest support; I would never be able to do it without him.

Q: What’s your favorite speech by Meghan?

This is a very hard question to be honest. For a person who’s so poised, so well-spoken, and so warm in both the tone of her voice and her overall delivery it’s hard to pick one speech that’s my favorite.

But a speech that really made an impact on me, was the one she delivered during their New Zealand tour at a at a Government House reception hosted by Governor-General NZ. That day Meghan gave a speech about women’s suffrage and said, “Because, yes, women’s suffrage is about feminism, but feminism is about fairness.”

Because one quote from this speech is simply not enough, Meghan also had this to say about the lasting impact and greater meaning of the right to vote: “Suffrage is not simply about the right to vote but also about what that represents: the basic and fundamental human right of being able to participate in the choices for your future and that of your community, the involvement and voice that allows you to be a part of the very world that you are a part of.”

During her time as a senior royal, Meghan spoke about everything from feminism to fashion to navigating her new life with Harry. I honestly don’t know if Meghan grew up knowing she would be making a lot of speeches one day, but she is a complete natural at it. No matter the occasion, she always has something appropriate and inspiring to say, and I admire her for that!

Okay, there are still over 100+ questions to answer but my hands is about to fall off, hah! I hope this was fun to read / insightful! Have a great rest of your week, friends!
