Meghan and Harry and the Los Padres polo team hosted a special charity polo match yesterday in support of several local charities, and Meghan sure pulled out all the stops!
News of the special afternoon was first revealed by Amanda Nguyen, who took to Instagram over the weekend to share her invitation on her Instagram, but later deleted it. The founder of the non-profit organization named Rise, wrote alongside the invite: “Thank you Prince Harry and Meghan for this lovely invite to tomorrow’s charity polo match. Looking forward to it tomorrow! Also, admittedly excited to wear a hat for the dress code.”
The invite read: “On behalf of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex & the Los Padres polo team, you are cordially invited to An Afternoon of Polo in support of local charities.”
Omid Scobie revealed earlier this month that Harry is planning to play the entire 12-game season with the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. The club has attracted beginners and advanced players since being established in 1911.
Omid said that Harry was going to participate in the Folded Hills Pope Challenge between May 9 and 15, the Lisle Nixon Cup from May 20 to 29, as well as the Cheval Athletics USPA Intra-Circuit, which runs June 3 to 19. However, Harry will have to miss some games during the final tournament because of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, which kick off with Trooping the Colour on Thursday 2 June.
We saw Meghan numerous times cheering on Harry throughout the game season!
Harry was in his element during today’s game playing alongside his longtime friend Nacho Figueres, who has spoken out in support of Harry and Meghan several times.
You’ll recall that Nacho attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018. He also serves as an ambassador for Sentebale, an organization founded by Harry, which is dedicated to helping children and young people who or whose family’s suffer with HIV and AIDs in Lesotho, South Africa.
After playing in a tournament together at the Santa Barbara club last month, Nacho paid tribute to Harry on Instagram, writing: ‘Thrilled to be riding alongside my friend, Prince Harry, and the rest of the Los Padres team at the Santa Barbara Polo Club’s Harry East Memorial Tournament. We’ve ridden together many times over the years and now that we’re both parents, it’s extra special to be able to spend this time together. The name Los Padres was inspired by the proximity of the field to the Los Padres National Forest and also by our connection as fathers.”
It was an amazing day, with Meghan and Harry raising money for charities tackling hunger, environment issues and mental health, causes close to their heart. Harry’s team was even the winners on the day, and Meghan presented her husband with the trophy and a kiss!
“As Julia Roberts famously said in Pretty Woman, “I want the fairytale.” It’s a sentiment a young Meghan Markle – the California girl who went from small-screen star to royal bride when an English prince swept her off her feet – no doubt related to. And an outing for the Duchess of Sussex in Santa Barbara over the weekend suggests Vivian Ward’s post-makeover wardrobe made quite an impression on her, too.”
Meghan looked stunning in the ‘Isabella’ shorts in white from Khaite.
She styled it with ‘The Bella’ Belt in Blackbelt by Khaite. The belt is “Crafted in Italy, this lustrous leather belt is as versatile as it is refined. The gleaming, jewelry-like hardware—a curved buckle and twin belt loops—is crafted of highly polished brass plated in 18-karat gold.”
She also wore her AQUAZZURA ‘Savoy’ 105 Black Pumps. They are currently out of stock.
The post will be updated with more outfit details soon!
