Meghan made her first daytime talk show appearance in years on TheEllenShow today!
Ellen DeGeneres revealed the news herself yesterday via her Twitter account, captioned: “A lot has changed since the last time Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was on the Warner Brothers lot. Don’t miss the rest of our interview tomorrow.”
In the preview for TheEllenShow, Meghan recalls a funny story about her days as a struggling upcoming actress who drove a Ford Explorer Sport – a car that was so old, she had to crawl through the trunk to get into the driver’s seat.
Meghan also jokes about how when she was an actress, the security guards at the film set would tell her ”Break a leg” as she turned up for auditions, and adds: “The drive-in today was very different.”

In another sneak-peak revealed today, Meghan said that Harry and she managed to keep their dating life a secret when they went to celebrate Halloween together.
“Harry came to see me in Toronto and our friends and his cousin Princess Eugenie and now her husband Jack Brooksbank – they came as well. The four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple. It was a post-apocalypse theme, so we had all of this very bizarre costuming on and we were able to just have one final fun night out,”
Meghan then described how Halloween, as a married couple and parents to Archie and Lilibet, looked very different this year.
“We were home, and we saw you guys which were great, but we wanted to do something fun for the kids and they were just not into it at all. Archie was a dinosaur for maybe five minutes. Not even five minutes.”
As for Lilibet, she was “a little skunk.”
“Like Flower from Bambi,” Meghan said.
During the interview, Meghan also spoke about her best-seller children’s book, The Bench, which was based on a poem she wrote for Harry on Father’s Day. “It was about my observation of him, and you know, him being a dad, which was the most beautiful thing to watch and, and that was really the intention of it.”
Meghan described how she shared it with friends and others she is close with and was told how it “resonated” with them for its representation and “sweet love stories,” encouraging her to turn it into a book. The inclusive element was particularly important to Meghan, who shared that she remembered being young and not always seeing someone who looked like her.
“I then made sure that it had all of those pieces of it. Especially the softer side of masculinity, the softer side of fatherhood, to be able to see that and try to include it all in there and make sure everyone felt like they could see themselves in these pages.”
Meghan’s friendship with Ellen DeGeneres
In an interview back in 2016 with Best Health magazine, Meghan shared that she ran into Ellen at a LA shelter and adopted her first dog Bogart who is a Labrador-Shepherd, after “Ellen told me to.”
“Now, I don’t know her, but Ellen goes, ‘Is that your dog?'” Meghan said. “And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’ It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something.”
She continued: “I’m sitting there holding him, and she’s like, ‘Have you thought of a name for him yet?’ And I said, ‘Well, I think I’d name him Bogart,’ and she’s like ‘You’re taking the dog home.’ And she walks outside to get into her car, but instead of getting in, she turns around and comes and taps on the window glass, and she yells, ‘Take the dog!’ And so, I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to.”
Watch a video of Ellen talking about the meeting here. Ellen was super excited for the news of their engagement at the time.
Back November 1, 2019, Ellen revealed how Meghan inspired her to invite dancer and instructor Jeny Bonsengo and her nine-year-old pupil Anae unto her program after they went viral on YouTube as a result of their impressive dance moves.

You’ll also recall that Ellen, alongside a long-time friend of Harry, Nacho Figueras defended the sussexes after they received backlash for using private jets for their vacations.
And again, in 2019 she told her audience that she had flown to London and that she “Spent the afternoon with Prince Harry and Meghan.” I just want to say it was an honor for them to meet me. Seriously, they are so amazing. They’re the cutest couple, so down to earth. And I just hate it, I see them get attacked and it’s not fair. I see them get attacked, and it’s not fair. They’re just two of the most down-to-earth, compassionate people. They’re doing so much good for the world.”

Back to TheEllenShow interview:
Meghan also talked about how Archie “loves being a big brother” to Lili – but it did come with an adjustment period.
“I think it’s just; everyone tells you – well, someone told H and I: ‘When you have one kid it’s a hobby, and two children is parenting. Suddenly we realized, ‘Oh, right.’ Everyone talks about what it’s like for the second child, but no one talks about the adjustment for the first child when the second one comes along. So, I think they have this moment of, ‘Oh, this is fun. Oh, this how it is now.’ “
“He’s so sweet,” Ellen responded, which Meghan echoed.
As we all know already, Meghan and Harry relocated to California last year at the start of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
“Obviously, we are neighbors, so we see each other a lot,” Ellen said. “I love that you all moved here, and Harry is loving it, right?”
“He loves it,” Meghan responded.
“What does he love about California?” Ellen asked.
“Well, we moved here during lockdown, exactly when things shut down, so we’ve just been able to spend a lot of time at home and creating our home, but I think it’s just the lifestyle and the weather is pretty great,” Meghan said. “But we’re just happy.”
In addition, a very sweet picture of Archie at his “Chick Inn” was shown on the screen
During Meghan and Harry’s sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Oprah visited them at their home. While there, she filmed their chicken coop on their property. The chicken coop – playfully run by Archie – are home to several hens that were rescued from a factory farm. The sign even read, “established 2021″. When Oprah asked Meghan about the chickens, she quite simply explained: “I just love rescuing.”
During the interview it was also announced that Meghan and Harry have made charitable donation of $20,000 to a company called A Twist of Greatness. Brittany Starks, who runs the Tennessee-based non-profit, was summoned from the audience to talk to Ellen and Meghan.
Brittany is a former hairdresser and a single mom with two children. She started braiding kids’ hair in her neighborhood for free earlier this year.
She then founded the charity, and her team has now helped over 150 kids, providing books and clothes.

In another clip, Meghan was tasked with pretending to be a shopper at a stall where vendors had set up near the Warner Bros lot.
It was Meghan herself who asked Ellen if she could take part in one of the show’s hidden camera games. During the games, guests wear an earpiece and must say everything they are told to by the host.
She was also given a purse but had no idea what was inside.
A show’s writer was pretending to be Meghan’s assistant. She told the vendors that Meghan was there to shop just like every other person and for them to “treat her normally”.

And I sweet photo of Meghan and Ellen because… why not?
For the interview on TheEllenShow Meghan wore:
An Oscar de la Renta’s Balloon Sleeve Blouse. On their website, it is described as a “silk-blend blouse with palm embroidery on sleeves. Crew neckline; keyhole/back button. Long balloon sleeves; button cuffs.”
During the prank segment, Meghan was seen wearing a different outfit.
It’s been revealed that Meghan wore the Anine Bing’s Hunter Coat.
The Coat is described as:

It’s a collarless, full-length style that is perfectly clean and simple, finished with flat on-seam pockets and an understated self-tie belt at the waist. Underneath the coat, Meghan wore the Stella McCartney Eva Long Sleeve Henley Blouse.
She styled the blouse with the Naya Draped Skirt from the same brand
In the sweet photo of Archie, he is wearing the most adorable “Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles Wellington Boots”
