Meghan took a break from her maternity leave and celebrated the 4th of July making a surprise appearance on day four of Wimbledon to watch her friend Serena play in her second-round match with two of her friends: Genevieve Hillis and Lindsay Roth.

Serena and Meghan have remained loyal friends since their first real hang out in 2014. Meghan wrote on her now-shut-down blog The Tig that the two crossed paths for the first time in Miami during the 2010 Super Bowl. But it would take a few more years for their friendship to blossom.
Meghan, who was starring on “Suits” at the time, and Serena crossed paths again at the event, playing flag football together at a celebrity game.
“We hit it off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game we were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girlie stuff. So began our friendship,”
Meghan revealed on The Tig.
Meghan shared a lot about their friendship on The Tig:
“She quickly became a confidante I would text when I was traveling, the friend I would rally around for her tennis matches, and the down-to-earth chick I was able to grab lunch with just a couple weeks ago in Toronto.We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces, and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations — our endless ambition.”
Meghan had an amazing time watching Serena play WImbledony, while spending some time with two very close friends.
Let’s dig a bit into Meghan’s relationship with Genevieve Hillis and Lindsay Roth!
As we all know, Meghan attended Northwestern University School of Communication and graduated in 2003 with a double major in theatre and international studies. It was there, in a literature class during her first year, that Meghan met Lindsay, and the pair have remained friends ever since.
Genevieve Hillis is also a Northwestern alum; she and Meghan met when they were sorority sisters in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
They became such close friends over the years that when Lindsay Roth married her now-husband Englishman Gavin Jordan in August 2016, she asked Meghan to be her maid of honor.
As if that wasn’t enough, Meghan also arranged a surprise trip for Lindsay, flying her out to Toronto for a private dress fitting at the Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay. Speaking to the New York Times about the gesture, Lindsay said: “I felt like the most special bride.”
During an interview with People back in 2017, Lindsay described Meghan as “still the same girl I met years ago, with the same values and priorities. She’s selfless, and that’s just a part of who she is and who she was raised to be.” The interview took place the same year Meghan got engaged to Harry.
In a birthday Instagram post to Meghan in 2013, Lindsay called Meghan “the most kind, generous, wickedly smart and gorgeous (inside and out) maid of honour a girl could have!
Genevieve Hillis and Serena Williams organized Meghan’s baby shower.
So it’s easy to say that Meghan is very, very close to these women!

You’ll recall Meghan also attended Wimbledon cheering Serena last year as a newlywed! It’s always been an annual thing for her, and I’m sure she’s continuing after entering the royal family!
