Time revealed its list of 100 most influential people earlier today, and guess what? Meghan and Harry are gracing the cover of the magazine’s print issue!
The list has 6 categories: Icons, Pioneers, Titans, Artists, Leaders, Innovators. Meghan and Harry made the list in the “Icons” category.
In a profile about Harry and Meghan, chef Jose Andres spoke about the drive that motivates them both. About Harry, he wrote about when he was in the British military in 2013 and he was conducting a now-viral interview when a loud bang rang out. “In one swift motion, he stands up, rips off his microphone, and runs toward the action,” Andres said.
He continues: “That same sense of urgency drives Meghan, now the Duchess of Sussex, who has long been an active humanitarian and a powerful advocate for women and girls around the world,”

“There’s a famous TV interview of Harry, the Duke of Sussex, when he was an Apache helicopter gunner a few years ago. He’s sitting close to an airfield in Afghanistan, commenting on some royal news, when there’s a bang and a group of soldiers scramble behind him.

Meghan and Harry partnered with Chef Jose Andés´ World Central Kitchen last year to fund four new relief service centers to help the organization deliver on its goal of feeding people in disaster zones. Meghan and Harry made the donation through their Archewell Foundation.
The photos of the couple were taken at their home by photographer Pari Dukavic. Dilys Ng, who has photo-edited #TIME100 covers for the past 4 years. The Time said: “Our cover portrait, taken by Pari Dukovic, marks the first time the world-famous couple has formally posed together for a magazine cover shoot. “It captures their powerful dynamic as equal partners,”.”
Meghan and Harry were dressed by Nina and Clare Hallworth, who are renowned for putting together looks for celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Kirsten Dunst, Brad Pitt, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Serge Normant styled Meghan’s hair. He also styled her hair at her wedding day in May 2018.
Following the announcement, Harry and Meghan showed their gratitude on their Archewell website while also shining a light on environmental sustainability advocate and human welfare champion Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are not only humbled to be part of this years’ TIME 100 through the words of friend and partner José Andres, but to also write in praise of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the publication’s annual list of Most Influential People,” the statement read. “Since becoming the Director-General of the World Trade Organization in March, Okonjo-Iweala has astutely been hailed for the groundbreaking nature of her appointment to the role; the first woman and the first African to assume the position. What further sets her apart, and makes her leadership all the more trailblazing, is her ability to see the COVID-19 pandemic as a crisis with significant implications for both health and economic security.”
Others on the prestigious list include Joe Biden, Britney Spears, Stacey Abrams, and Elon Musk.
