Harry and Meghan Join Royal Family at Queen’s Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving

Meghan and Harry stepped out this morning in London to attend the National Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving for the Queen at St. Paul’s Cathedral with other members of the royal family.

Meghan, Harry, Archie, and Lilibet all took a commercial flight to London on Wednesday evening along with a small team of staffers, with the Queen sending a car and security to pick them up at the airport. It is the first time the Sussexes have returned to the UK with the kids since leaving for the US – although the couple made a secret visit to the Queen last month as they traveled to the Invictus Games in the Netherlands.

The trip also marks the first time Lilibet visits her dad’s homeland and the trip is the first time she meets the royal family. Earlier this month, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry said they were “excited” and “honored” to attend the celebrations.

We saw a glimpse of the couple yesterday during Trooping the Colour. A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace previously confirmed that non-working members of the royal family would not be invited to attend the traditional balcony appearance during the parade.

“After careful consideration, The Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd June will be limited to Her Majesty and those Members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of The Queen,”

Meghan was photographed in the window of the Major General’s Office in a wide-brimmed Stephen Jones hat and navy off-the-shoulder dress. She and Harry watched the parade with other members of the royal family there.

Before the Queen’s Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving started at 11.30 am, Grand Paul, the biggest church bell in the country, rang between 10.50 am and 10.55 am – for only the eighth time since it was restored in 2021. The bell is housed in the cathedral’s southwest tower and weighs approximately 16.5 tonnes.

Meghan and Harry arrived at the event from their UK home, Frogmore Cottage located in Windsor.

The Queen was notably absent today. A last-minute announcement by Buckingham Palace last night said that the Queen had decided “with great reluctance” that the journey to St Paul’s and the length of the service will make it too difficult to attend. The Duke of York also missed the service after contracting Covid.

A HUGE cheer went up as the Sussexes arrived and they were greeted at the great west door by the Dean of St Paul’s.

There were several other royals at the service, including Princess Anne, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Zara and Mike Tindall, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Prince Michael of Kent.

We also saw Boris Johnson, Labour’s Keir Starmer, Sadiq Khan, the London mayor, and 400 honor recipients, among them NHS key workers recognized for their work during the pandemic at the service.

During the service, we saw bible readings, anthems, prayers, and congregational hymns. The service also included a new anthem written by Judith Weir. Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, was ill with coronavirus. He was replaced by the Archbishop of York, the Most Rev Stephen Cottrell.

Harry was seemingly spotted joking around inside the cathedral, where he was seated in the same row as his cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their husbands.

Markle looked marvelous in a bespoke Dior Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2022 coat and matching heels from the same brand. The coat dress features a flattering waist belt and full skirt but it’s the elongated collar that really gives it such a polished aesthetic.
